Motus System Launch
The Federal Motor Carrier’s new system, Motus, has launched. All carriers Must complete the website registration; the website is now the only route to update your USDOT number/MCS150 filing. It is also used for new carriers to apply for their USDOT number.
The account must be established by the company official listed on the USDOT number. The username and password used to establish your company FMCSA Clearinghouse and FMCSA Portal accounts will be used to create your login. The system will verify their identity through upload/scanning of their driver’s license and real time facial scanning of their face; the website will provide a UR code allowing the scanning to be done through your smartphone. If the Company Official account has been created with the FMCSA Portal you will be able to claim your USDOT number. If your FMCSA Company Official account has not yet been created you will need to send proof of ownership to the FMCSA to claim ownership of the USDOT number within Motus.
Companies with an existing USDOT number should claim an existing USDOT number, not complete New Registration, as this will cause application of a second USDOT number.
The system will also also require you to upload IRS documents and state business Articles of Incorporation when applying for a USDOT number.
Once the account has been established Johnson DOT Services can be added to manage your USDOT number under Manage Users/Authorized Users. We can also complete your USDOT number application by listing us as the person completing the USDOT application once the identity verification and document upload verification has been completed by the Federal Motor Carrier.
As with any new system launch the process is not without flaws. It is recommended to get started on setting up your account right away so that you company does not miss any of the required USDOT/MCS150 updates.
The only website in which you can complete this registration is; https://motus.dot.gov/ .
